Job summary

Surgery Partners' Key Whitman Eye Center in North Arlington, TX is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to support physicians and clinical staff in a fast-paced ophthalmology practice. You will obtain patient histories, perform diagnostic testing, document findings in the EMR, and assist with procedures.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma, 1 year of ophthalmic experience, strong communication, EMR proficiency, and knowledge of HIPAA.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year of ophthalmic assistant or scribe experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with EMR systems and general computer applications.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy requirements.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and ethical patient care.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document accurate patient histories.
• Perform lensometry and visual acuity testing.
• Conduct ophthalmic diagnostic testing and document findings in the EMR.
• Assist physicians with ophthalmic procedures and post-operative instructions.
• Maintain, clean, and sterilize ophthalmic instruments.
• Administer topical ophthalmic medications and perform tonometry as directed.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and provide professional patient communication.
