Job Summary

We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Operations Specialist for a full-time, temp-to-hire opportunity in Carson, CA. This role is ideal for a logistics professional who enjoys coordinating shipments, solving problems, and keeping freight moving smoothly through domestic and international supply chains.

The Operations Specialist will support daily transportation, import/export, and shipment coordination activities in a fast-paced logistics environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, proactive, and customer-focused, with strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with carriers, vendors, freight forwarders, customs brokers, warehouses, and customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily logistics operations for domestic and international shipments, including air and ocean freight.
• Monitor shipment status to help ensure timely pickup, delivery, documentation, and customs clearance.
• Prepare, review, and maintain shipping documents such as commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and delivery orders.
• Communicate with customers, carriers, warehouses, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and vendors to resolve shipment issues.
• Update shipment information, maintain accurate records, and track operational reports in company systems.
• Identify delays, discrepancies, and service issues while recommending practical process improvements.

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay Range: $23 to $27 per hour.
• Position Type: Full-Time.
• Job Type: Temp-to-Hire.
• Location: Carson, CA.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Coordinate import, export, domestic, air, and ocean shipments.
• Track freight movement and provide timely shipment updates to customers and internal teams.
• Prepare and manage shipping documentation for transportation and customs processes.
• Communicate with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, warehouses, vendors, and customers.
• 1-2 years of experience in logistics, transportation, freight forwarding, operations, or a related field.
• Knowledge of import/export procedures and standard shipping documentation.
• Familiarity with customs clearance coordination and freight operations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication, customer service, follow-up, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a positive and collaborative operations team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience coordinating air and ocean freight shipments.
• Experience in a freight forwarding or customs brokerage environment.
• Familiarity with CargoWise or other transportation management systems.
• Knowledge of international logistics, supply chain operations, and customs documentation.
• Familiarity with ACE/ABI systems.
• Experience working with carriers, vendors, and international partners.
