Job summary

AppleOne Employment Services is seeking a detail-oriented Customs Brokerage Specialist for a full-time, temp-to-hire role in the Wilmington/Torrance, CA area. The ideal candidate has customs brokerage, import operations, or international shipping experience and enjoys managing documentation and coordinating shipment clearance.

You will work with customers, freight forwarders, carriers, warehouses, and government agencies to ensure accurate and timely customs clearance and to keep freight moving

Qualifications

• Prepare and process customs entries and import documentation.
• Coordinate customs clearance for international shipments.
• Review shipping documents for accuracy, compliance, and timely release.
• Monitor shipment activity and resolve customs-related delays.
• 1-2+ years of experience in customs brokerage, import operations, or international logistics.
• Knowledge of U.S. CBP regulations and import procedures.
• Familiarity with HTS codes, tariff classifications, and duties.
• Experience using ACE/ABI systems preferred.
• Strong computer skills, including Excel and Outlook.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Customs Brokerage Specialist for a full-time, temp-to-hire opportunity in the Wilmington/Torrance, CA area. This role is ideal for a logistics professional with customs brokerage, import operations, or international shipping experience who enjoys managing documentation, coordinating shipment clearance, and keeping freight moving on schedule. The Customs Brokerage Specialist will work closely with customers, freight forwarders, carriers, warehouses, and government agencies to support accurate and timely customs clearance. This opportunity offers a professional logistics environment with supportive leadership, strong teamwork, and the potential to grow within customs brokerage and international transportation operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and process import customs entries and required supporting documentation.
• Coordinate customs clearance for international shipments and monitor shipment status through final release.
• Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and related documents for accuracy and compliance.
• Verify HTS classifications, duties, tariffs, and applicable import requirements.
• Communicate with CBP, customers, freight forwarders, carriers, and warehouses to resolve holds, exams, delays, and documentation issues.
• Maintain accurate shipment records and assist with discrepancies, duty questions, and entry corrections.

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay Rate: $20 to $28 per hour, depending on experience.
• Job Type: Temp-to-Hire.
• Schedule: Full-Time.
• Location: Wilmington/Torrance, CA area.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Prepare and process customs entries and import documentation.
• Coordinate customs clearance for international shipments.
• Review shipping documents for accuracy, compliance, and timely release.
• Monitor shipment activity and resolve customs-related delays.
• 1-2+ years of experience in customs brokerage, import operations, or international logistics.
• Knowledge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection regulations and import procedures.
• Experience preparing customs entries and reviewing international shipping documentation.
• Familiarity with HTS codes, tariff classifications, duty calculations, and applicable tariffs.
• Experience using ACE/ABI customs systems preferred.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Excellent communication, organization, follow-up, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments, deadlines, and customer requests in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed Customs Broker certification preferred, but not required.
• Experience with freight forwarding and international transportation.
• Knowledge of ocean and air import procedures.
• Familiarity with Cargowise or other customs brokerage software.
