Job summary

VOA-GNY is seeking an Operations Manager/Shift Supervisor to oversee daily shelter operations at The Schwartz Assessment Shelter. The role includes intake, bed assignments, case management, mail distribution, meal cards, and medication management, with a focus on safety and security in a 24/7 setting.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with at least one year in a social services capacity, strong interpersonal skills, basic computer knowledge, and security certifications (F-80)

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus one year of relevant experience in a social services setting.
• Must possess good interpersonal skills and basic computer knowledge.
• Certifications in security and Fire Safety (F-80) obtained within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Supervise delivery of program services including intake, bed assignments, case management services, distribution of client mail, lockers, meal cards and medication.
• Ensure optimal customer service is being provided to clients.
• Ensure recreation activities are occurring.
• Ensures the facility is adequately staffed at all times.
• Work with DHS PD to ensure the daily security and safety of the facility.
• Supervise facility maintenance, cleaning staff and fire safety.
• Manage community relations and communicate with relevant authorities as needed.
