Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Round Rock seeks a Surgical Technologist 2 to support the operating room team under RN supervision. You will prepare the operative field, manage instruments and supplies, and ensure a safe, efficient surgical environment.

Responsibilities include draping, patient positioning, surgical counts, passing instruments, handling specimens, and post-case cleanup and sterilization in accordance with infection control standards.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of infection prevention and regulatory sterilization standards.
• Proficient in sterile technique and setup of operating rooms.
• Understanding of human anatomy and surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Discuss special needs with the surgeon before surgery and scrub in on time.
• Prepare operative site and clip patient as needed.
• Set up and maintain instrument tables and trays.
• Perform surgical counts of sponges, sharps, instruments and supplies.
• Pass sterile supplies to surgeons and assistants during procedures.
• Assist with draping and positioning of the patient.
• Receive specimens and verify sources.
• Disassemble instruments and manage decontamination and disposal.
• Ensure cleaning, sterilization and preparation of equipment for distribution.
• Maintain inventory and proper records for supplies.
