Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking an Ambulatory Services Representative to support the front desk and patient flow in an ambulatory care setting. The role emphasizes greeting patients, verifying demographics and coverage, collecting co-pays, and coordinating appointments with clinicians and tests.

The position requires a high school diploma, with preferred Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, and 3 years of related experience (or a degree). Strong communication and computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; higher degrees preferred.
• 3 years related experience; or if you have an Associate/Bachelor’s degree, this experience is waived.
• Ability to use specialized software and computer systems; professional communication and human relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors and patients for scheduled or urgent care appointments.
• Verify patient demographics and insurance information.
• May collect co-payments from patients upon arrival.
• Obtain signatures of consent for treatment and billing information.
• Assess patients’ needs including financial counseling, interpreters, social services; refer as needed.
• Receives and directs phone calls; connects patient to provider or takes messages.
• Schedules urgent care appointments per clinician guidance.
• Schedules patients for treatment across multiple providers and tests per guidelines.
