Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking staff to support ambulatory care clinics in Central Massachusetts. The role involves greeting patients, verifying information, handling co-pays, and obtaining consent signatures for treatment and billing.

You will assess patient needs and coordinate referrals for services as directed by clinicians. The position requires strong communication, multitasking, and the ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma; associate/bachelor preferred.
• Ability to use specialized applications software and computer systems.
• Must be able to multitask and work under pressure.
• Exhibits professional behavior and excellent communication and human relations skills.
• Knowledge of business office procedures and medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets visitors and patients for scheduled and urgent care appointments.
• Verifies patient demographic and insurance information.
• May collect co-payments from patients on arrival.
• Obtains signatures of consent for treatment and billing information.
• Assesses patient needs including financial counseling and interpreter services.
• Answers and directs phone calls; routes messages as directed.
• Schedules urgent care appointments and treatments across providers.
• Coordinates scheduling with multiple providers and tests per guidelines.
• Prioritizes appointments to optimize patient care and resource use.
