Job summary

Walbridge seeks an IT Technician to deliver hands-on technical support at the project site, ensuring smooth operation of Windows-based systems and hardware. You will manage Windows 11 support, deploy devices, onboard new hires, and assist with network issues while traveling as needed.

The role requires 3+ years in IT support, proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows OS, and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Training in Detroit for 4–6 weeks is expected.

Qualifications

• Completed a minimum of high school diploma or equivalent, and technical training or professional experience.
• 3 years or more of commercial experience required in an IT support technician role supporting a Windows environment, via telephone and remote support tools
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite and Windows operating system software
• Experience steadfastly documenting all works performed in the ticketing system
• User data transfer to new laptops
• Thorough understanding of hardware technical specifications and general network experience
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and deal with multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Ability and willingness to learn new skills quickly
• Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds
• Able to frequently work beyond 40 hours per week.
• Able to travel out of state, sometimes with short notice, and stay overnight as needed
• Able to train in Detroit, Michigan for 4-6 weeks
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment visa sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Windows 11 Support - Provide Tier 1/2 technical support for Windows 11 systems, including troubleshooting OS issues, performance optimization, and user assistance.
• Hardware & Software Deployment - Stage, configure, and deploy desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices. Install, update, and support standard business applications in accordance with IT policies.
• Onboarding & Workstation Setup - Prepare and provision user workstations for new hires, including account setup, system configuration, and ensuring readiness on day one.
• New Technology Support & Adoption - Support the implementation and adoption of new technologies, including evaluating emerging tools, assisting with pilot deployments, and helping users transition to new systems and solutions.
• Network Support - Assist with basic network setup and troubleshooting, including connectivity issues, VPN access, and wired/wireless network configurations.
• IT Recommendations & Asset Planning - Research and recommend hardware, software, and IT services to improve operational efficiency, performance, and security.
• User Training & Support - Deliver end-user training and guidance on technology tools, systems, and best practices to enhance productivity and reduce support incidents.
