Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Desktop Support Technician to provide frontline technical assistance for computer systems and related hardware and software. The role focuses on troubleshooting, system maintenance, and end-user support to minimize downtime.

You will handle device setup, software upgrades, and peripheral issues, while documenting incidents in ServiceNow and coordinating with IT colleagues for escalation when needed. This contract position is based in Evansville, IN.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 2-4 years of experience in IT support or desktop administration.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for employees seeking technical assistance over the phone, email, or in person.
• Perform remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions, resolving technical problems with LAN/WAN and other systems.
• Install, configure, and upgrade PC software and operating systems, including Windows 10, Microsoft 365, and other required applications.
• Maintain daily performance of computer systems, assist with hardware setup, and address issues related to peripherals such as printers, scanners, and video conferencing equipment.
• Record events, problems, and resolutions in logs or helpdesk software such as ServiceNow and track inventory of equipment and spares.
• Follow up with clients to ensure systems are functional, provide feedback or training, and coordinate with IT staff for escalation and resolution.
