Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools is seeking a Paraeducator, Learning Support to provide one-on-one assistance and small-group support under the guidance of licensed staff. The role runs 6.5 hours per day, 9 months per year and focuses on helping students achieve individualized goals within the classroom.

The position emphasizes collaboration with teachers, strong communication, and the ability to adapt to student needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Associate’s degree credits (72 quarter/48 sem) or ParaPro score 461+ may substitute.
• One year of related experience with children is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Assist the certificated teacher in managing student behavior and implementing goals.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group support as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with instructional materials and data entry related to IEP goals.
• Communicate with teachers about student progress and needs.
• Attend trainings to support students with special needs.
