Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools seeks a Special Program Paraeducator 2 for its Integrated Social Emotional Program (ISEP). This one-on-one position runs 6.5 hours per day for 9 months each year.

The role supports students with disabilities, collaborates closely with the teacher, and participates in CPI/de-escalation trainings. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and, ideally, an Associate’s degree or ParaPro scores.

Qualifications

• Official transcripts or ETS ParaPro results required for application.
• One year of related experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Experience working with children with disabilities preferred.
• Willingness to attend mandatory weekend trainings including CPI/de-escalation.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Treat co-workers, students, and families with dignity and respect at all times.
• Assist teacher with implementing goals and evaluating student IEPs.
• De-escalate emotional/behavioral crises per behavior plans.
• Prepare teaching materials and maintain data collection records.
• Attend team meetings and support classroom activities as directed.
• Observe and report student behavior to appropriate staff.
