Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Services Representative to support front-desk operations in a medical office. You will greet patients, verify insurance, collect co-pays, and register new patients while upholding patient confidentiality and safety.

Responsibilities include answering phones, scheduling appointments, coordinating outside testing, and maintaining accurate demographics and charting. Prior physician office experience and medical terminology knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0–2 years experience in customer service preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; 1–3 years physician office experience preferred; knowledge of medical terminology beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and register them, verify insurance information, collect co-pays and outstanding balances.
• Update patient demographics and company information for all patients.
• Answer phones and schedule appointments; direct and document patient calls as appropriate.
• Coordinate scheduling of outside testing for patients and liaise between patient and practice.
• Ensure patient confidentiality and safety; complete daily reconciliation of charges.
• Pull charts and readies them for next day appointments; file completed charts daily.
