Job summary

Duke Health in Durham, NC seeks an Oncology New Patient Coordinator (NPC) to register patients, schedule initial visits, gather demographic and insurance information, and coordinate care with the oncology team. The NPC applies cancer knowledge to assign disease groups and plan appointments.

Responsibilities include handling referrals from multiple sources, collecting medical records, coordinating tests and imaging, and ensuring records are complete before first visits.

Qualifications

• 2 years' experience in a health care or health care scheduling position
• 3 years' relevant work experience (call center, health care scheduling, financial clearance, customer service, education) required with no degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. -OR- With a Bachelor's Degree, 1 year relevant work experience in a health care or health care scheduling position.

Responsibilities

• Scheduling and coordinating oncology patient registrations and appointments.
• Oversee referrals from multiple sources and obtain required medical records.
• Coordinate tests, imaging, and records in Epic and other systems for new patients.
• Educate patients on cancer care pathways and provider roles.
