Job summary

HomeFirst is seeking a Temporary Resident Advocate to operate on-site at Site 1 OWL in San Jose, handling direct client services and safety operations for program participants and guests. The role requires strong interpersonal and crisis-management skills, and involves coordinating housing plans and using HMIS for documentation.

The position is temporary, full-time, non-exempt, with evening shifts and a hourly wage of $28.95, through April 2027 with possible dates adjustment.

Qualifications

• AA degree (or two years of higher education) or two years of field experience in social services.
• Lived experience OR understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of the unhoused population
• Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities

• Direct client service, care, safety and supervision of program participants and guests.
• Perform basic safety and security checks for participants
• Document notes of services provided into HMIS within 3 business days
• Complete intake of potential participants and assess housing needs
• Develop and monitor individualized housing plans with participants
• Respond to guest crises using de-escalation techniques and relevant safety protocols
