Job summary

HomeFirst is seeking an on-site Resident Advocate in San Jose, CA to support unhoused adults at the Emergency Interim Housing site. You will assist with intake, coordinate housing plans, and ensure safety and service delivery around on-site amenities and activities.

The role emphasizes trauma‑informed care, client-centered practice, and collaboration with staff to meet participant needs. Flexible day/evening shifts are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• AA degree or 2 years in social services preferred.
• Experience with HMIS or similar database systems.
• Ability to work flexible shifts including nights and weekends.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and supervision of program participants and guests.
• Enforce EIH guidelines and site rules.
• Welcome guests and assist with intake using HMIS.
• Document services within 3 business days.
• Complete housing plans and adapt as needed.
• Support on-site workshops and activities.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct.
