Job summary

HomeFirst is seeking a Temporary Resident Advocate (OWL) for Site 1 OWL in San Jose, CA. This part-time, temporary role supports participants, maintains safety, handles intake, and updates housing plans using HMIS. The position reports to the Program Manager and runs swing shifts through April 2027.

The Resident Advocate ensures on-site amenities, delivers direct client services, and collaborates with staff to meet participant needs with empathy and trauma-informed care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in social services or homelessness programs is beneficial.
• Ability to multitask and work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
• Strong communication and record-keeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct client service: oversee care, safety, and supervision of participants.
• Document notes in HMIS within 3 business days.
• Lead intake and housing-planning discussions with participants.
• Assist with developing and updating individualized housing plans.
• Respond to emergencies using de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed approaches.
