Job summary

HomeFirst is seeking a Resident Advocate for the First Street site in San Jose to support adults experiencing homelessness. You will manage day-to-day operations on site, assist with access to services, and ensure participant safety and dignity.

Responsibilities include facilitating housing plans, conducting intake assessments, coordinating with HMIS, leading on-site workshops, and collaborating with program staff to move participants toward permanent housing.

Qualifications

• AA degree or two years of higher education or equivalent field experience in social services.
• Sensitivity to the needs of unhoused individuals.
• Experience working with unhoused population.

Responsibilities

• Care, safety and supervision of program participants and guests.
• Implement and enforce EIH guidelines and site rules.
• Welcome all agency guests to the facility, including participants, volunteers, staff, and community members.
• Check guests into and out of the facility using HMIS.
• Document all notes of services provided into HMIS within 3 business days.
• Complete intake of potential participants including VI-SPDAT assessments.
• Work with participants to execute their housing plan and provide support.
• Promote and lead weekly on-site workshops on topics like financial literacy and tenant rights.
