Job summary

HomeFirst is seeking a Temporary Resident Advocate to manage day-to-day on-site operations at Site 2 in San Jose, ensuring participant safety and coordinating amenities such as meals while guiding residents toward housing plans.

The role reports to the Program Manager and requires strong communication, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care. Flexible hours include nights, weekends, and overnights to support program needs.

Qualifications

• AA degree (or equivalent of 2 years of higher education) or two years of field experience in social services
• Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to develop client service or housing plans
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Able to work with diverse populations and handle crises effectively

Responsibilities

• Care, safety and supervision of program participants and guests
• Perform safety checks and enforce site rules
• Welcome agency guests including participants, volunteers, staff, and community members
• Check guests into/out of the facility using HMIS
• Document services provided in HMIS within 3 business days
• Complete intake of potential participants and assess housing needs
• Develop and update individualized housing plans with participants
• Provide information, referrals, and housing resources to participants
• Handle emergencies with appropriate safety actions and reporting
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct at all times
