Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a trained-operator 3D scanning technician to run handheld Artec Leo scans on diverse sites such as rebar mats, corroded pipes, and machine parts. You will capture, process, and deliver meshes, point clouds, and scan-to-CAD data for client use.

You must have hands-on experience with handheld scanners and familiarity with Artec Studio. Travel to regional hubs and field sites is expected; safety on active construction sites is required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects.
• Familiar with Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software; mesh cleanup and registration.
• Familiarity with reading structural or fabrication drawings and CAD integration.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar, embeds, and structures on site.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlap zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, export to STL/OBJ/E57/CAD.
• Produce deviation maps, measurement reports, and anchor bolt coordinates.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
• Document capture procedures and chain of custody for forensic matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with plant contacts; travel as assigned.
