Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a trained 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners on live construction sites. You will capture data, process it with Artec Studio, and deliver usable meshes, reports, and CAD-ready files to clients.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software; mesh cleanup, registration, export.
• Familiarity with CAD and with reading structural or fabrication drawings.
• Comfortable on active construction sites and in industrial plants; able to carry equipment, climb, and work outdoors.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable record; travel as assigned.
• Experience with scan-to-CAD or metrology reporting a plus; certifications a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of various structures and components before concrete placement or during inspections.
• Control drift on large objects with reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export to multiple formats.
• Produce deviation color maps, measurement reports, and anchor bolt coordinate reports.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids for reverse engineering and quality checks; hand-clean meshes as needed.
• Document capture procedures, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with site superintendents and plant contacts.
