Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld Artec scanners on concrete and industrial projects, capturing data on site and delivering accurate meshes and reports. You will process scans in Artec Studio, create scan-to-CAD files, and produce deviation maps and coordinate reports for rebar, embeds, pipes, and machinery.

The role requires travel to regional hubs, downtime in the field, and strict safety practices on active sites; prior experience with CAD

Qualifications

Experience operating handheld 3D scanners on real projects.
Ability to read structural or fabrication drawings.
Comfort working on active construction sites and outdoors.
Valid driver's license with clean record.
Willingness to travel to regional hubs and sites.
Experience with scan-to-CAD or metrology reporting is a plus.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement.
Control drift on large objects with reference features.
Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export to STL/OBJ/E57/CAD.
Produce deviation color maps, reports against drawings, and anchor bolt coordinates.
Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering.
Document capture procedure and chain of custody on forensic matters.
Coordinate access, permits, and safety with superintendents and plant contacts.
Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
