Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a trained 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners (Artec Leo or similar) on concrete, rebar, and industrial components. You capture, verify on site, process with Artec Studio, and deliver meshes, point clouds, and CAD-ready files for client use.

You will generate deviation maps, reports, and scans-to-CAD outputs while maintaining safety on site and coordinating access with plant contacts; occasional travel to regional hubs is required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating handheld scanners on real projects; provide examples.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable software for mesh cleanup and registration.
• Familiarity with CAD drawings and ability to read structural/fabrication plans.
• Comfort on active construction sites; able to carry equipment and work outdoors.
• Valid driver's license with clean record; able to travel as needed.
• Willingness to travel to regional hubs and field sites.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of concrete, steel, and industrial structures.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlap zones.
• Verify data capture on-site before leaving the location.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, cleanup, texturing, export to STL/OBJ/E57/CAD.
• Produce deviation maps, reports, crack maps, and anchor bolt coordinates against drawings.
• Create scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) or hand-clean meshes for modeling.
• Document capture procedures and chain-of-custody for forensic matters.
• Maintain scanner equipment, batteries, and calibration records; coordinate access and safety.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned; support multiple sites and clients.
