Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a trained 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners, process data, and deliver ready-to-use CAD files and reports. You will scan rebar mats, embeds, and structural components on active sites, verify data on site, and move data into Artec Studio for final outputs.

You will travel to regional hubs as needed and work at various plant and construction sites in a dynamic, growing service line.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld scanner (Artec Leo, Eva, or Space Spider) on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio; mesh cleanup, registration and export.
• Familiarity with CAD across SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor or Revit.
• Comfortable on active construction sites and in industrial plants; able to carry equipment.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable record.
• Able to travel and fly with equipment as assigned.
• Experience with scan-to-CAD, Geomagic Design X, or metrology reporting a plus.
• ACI, NICET or ICC certifications a plus; we sponsor them.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld scans of rebar, embeds, and structures before pours.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlap zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture; export formats.
• Produce deviation maps, reports, crack maps, and coordinate reports against drawings.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) or hand-clean meshes for modeling.
• Document capture procedure, equipment settings, and chain of custody.
• Coordinate access, permits, safety with superintendents and plant contacts.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
