Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a skilled 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners on live construction sites. You will capture data on rebar mats, embeds, pipes, and structural components, then process in Artec Studio and deliver client-ready meshes and CAD-ready files.

Responsibilities include on-site data quality checks, drift control, and producing reports aligned with drawings. The role requires travel to regional hubs and cutter-edge metrology work as projects demand.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience operating handheld structured-light or laser scanners on real projects.
Familiarity with CAD drawings and reading structural/fab drawings is needed.
Able to travel and lift equipment on active sites and in plants.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar, embeds, and damaged structures before pours.
Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlap zones.
Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export to STL/OBJ/E57/CAD formats.
Produce deviation maps, reports, crack maps, and anchor bolt coordinates vs drawings.
Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
Document capture procedures, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
Keep scanner, batteries, and calibration records organized.
Coordinate access, permits, and safety with superintendents and plant contacts.
Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
