Construction Material Testing is seeking a trained 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners on active construction sites. You will capture data on rebar, embeds, and structural components, then process scans and deliver CAD-ready results.

You must be comfortable on site, able to travel regionally, and ready to build a career from scan-to-CAD reporting with sponsor-supported certifications. Attention to safety and quality is essential.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects.
• Knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software; mesh cleanup and registration.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement and other structures.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, exports to STL/OBJ/E57/CAD.
• Produce deviation maps, reports, and anchor bolt coordinates against drawings or CAD.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering.
• Document capture procedure and chain of custody on forensic matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, safety, and travel with superintendents and plant contacts.
