Job summary

Hotwire Communications in Savannah, GA is seeking a Service Technician to perform quality installation practices, including upgrades, disconnects, and troubleshooting of IP and RF based video, voice, and internet services.

The role requires fiber optic experience, ability to configure routers and Wi‑Fi, install CAT5/CAT6 cabling, and handle on-call shifts. A high school diploma plus related certifications are preferred; benefits include 401K and paid time off.

Qualifications

Minimum five years’ experience installing, testing and troubleshooting cable, phone and internet.
Fiber optic cabling experience required.
Proficiency with small hand tools and larger power tools.
Valid state driver’s license in the hiring state with no restrictions.
Able to work on ladders and at heights.
High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
Cisco CCT/CCENT and Microsoft MCSA certifications recommended.
Willingness to work days, weekends, evenings and holidays and participate in on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

Perform reconnects, disconnects, and service changes following company procedures and safety rules.
Troubleshoot fiber with 1310/1490/1550 nm wavelengths.
Configure routers, access points, bridges, and Wi‑Fi.
Resolve IP and LAN issues for customer premises.
Install CAT5/CAT6 drop wiring and connectors.
Test and tone drop wires from equipment room to end user location.
Identify fiber connectors and color codes.
Assist customers with PC configurations for internet operation.
Work on on-call rotation and perform other duties as assigned.
