Job summary

Hotwire Communications is seeking a Service Technician to perform quality installation practices including upgrades, disconnects and troubleshooting of IP and RF video, voice and internet services.

Responsibilities include fiber optic troubleshooting, configuring routers/Wi‑Fi, installing drop wires, and testing connectivity from equipment room to customer site. You must be flexible with hours and on-call shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' experience installing, testing and troubleshooting cable, phone and internet.
• Fiber optic cabling experience is required.
• Proficient with small hand tools and larger power tools.
• Valid state driver's license in the hiring state.
• Comfortable working on ladders and at heights.
• HS diploma; associate degree preferred in Internet Technologies or Engineering.
• Cisco CCT/CCENT and Microsoft MCSA certifications are desirable.
• Ability to work days, weekends, evenings and holidays with on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Perform reconnects, requested and non-pay disconnects, and service changes per procedures.
• Routinely troubleshoot fiber optics at 1310/1490/1550 nm.
• Configure routers, access points, bridges and Wi-Fi.
• Troubleshoot IP and LAN issues.
• Install CAT5/CAT6 drop wire and connectors.
• Test drop wires from equipment room to end user location.
• Work on on-call rotation and perform other duties as assigned.
