Job summary

Disabled American Veterans seeks an NSO Apprentice to begin an on-the-job training path toward National Service Officer. The role focuses on representing veterans and families pursuing VA disability claims and benefits, under DAV’s structured program.

You will train in interviewing, document review, and claim preparation, with supervision and ongoing assessment, to progress toward independent service before adjudication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be eligible for VA Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Services under DAV On-The-Job Training Program.
• Member in good standing of the DAV.

Responsibilities

• Acquire and maintain knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to veterans benefits.
• Learn to conduct detailed interviews of veterans to elicit information for potential benefits.
• Review service and medical records to identify and assess claims.
