Job summary

Methodist Dallas Medical Center in Dallas, TX is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a 12x3 night shift (1900-0700). You will provide adult and neonatal respiratory care, including ABG, PFT, ventilator support and airway maintenance under indirect supervision.

The role requires affiliation with the Texas Medical Board, NBRC registration, BLS/ACLS; NRP/PALS within 1 year. At least 6 months experience preferred. The department emphasizes patient safety and quality care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support — must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration, weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, incentive spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and electrocardiograms.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview and review of medical records.
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient data.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment such as ventilators, oxygen analyzers, delivery devices and gas analyzers.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas.
• Uses appropriate scripting to improve patient satisfaction.
• Performs other duties as required.
