Job summary

Methodist Southwest Medical Center in Dallas County seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for night shift rotations. Responsibilities include ABG, PFTs, ventilator care and airway management for adults and neonates, with supervision under the medical director.

Requires Texas licensure, NBRC registration, and BLS/ACLS with 6+ months of experience. The successful candidate will join a Magnet-designated hospital with a broad range of cardiopulmonary services and a commitment to patient

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • NRP and PALS must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
  • Texas licensure as Respiratory Care Practitioner in good standing.
  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
  • Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and electrocardiograms.
  • Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside respiratory physical assessment, patient interview and review of patient records.
  • Performs actions using critical thinking skills.
  • Interprets chest X-ray, ABG, and PFT results when reviewing patient data.
  • Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment such as ventilators and blood gas analyzers.
  • Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
  • Performs required cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas.
  • Uses appropriate patient scripting to improve satisfaction.
  • Performs other duties as required.
