Job summary

Methodist Dallas Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide comprehensive respiratory care for adults and neonates. You will manage ventilators, perform ABG analysis, PFTs, and a range of therapies under indirect supervision, contributing to patient assessments and care plans.

You must hold a Texas license, NBRC registration, BLS/ACLS, and obtain NRP/PALS within a year. The role includes night shifts (7pm-7am) and a 12x3 night schedule, with clinical duties

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support — must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and electrocardiograms.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview and review of medical records.
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient data.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment (airways, ventilators, oxygen analyzers, delivery devices, gas analyzers).
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of all equipment and work areas.
• Uses appropriate patient scripting to improve satisfaction.
• Performs other duties as required
