Job summary

Methodist Dallas Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide a wide range of therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory services for adults and neonates. Responsibilities include ventilator support, oxygen therapy, ABG analysis, and PFTs, under indirect supervision of the department’s medical director.

Requirements include a Respiratory Care Program graduate, BLS and ACLS, Texas licensure, NBRC registration, and at least 6 months of experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support— must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration, weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, incentive spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and electrocardiograms.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview and review of medical records.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data as part of patient data review.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment such as ventilators, oxygen analyzers, delivery devices and blood gas analyzers.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Utilizes appropriate customer scripting to improve patient satisfaction.
• Performs other job duties as required.
