Job summary

Emerus Holdings, Inc. seeks a Patient Access Specialist for a night shift (7PM–7AM) at our 16-bed small-format hospital in Willow Park, TX.

The role focuses on patient tracking, registration, and revenue-cycle support, ensuring accurate demographics and insurance verification. Responsibilities include liaising with families, payers, and healthcare staff, collecting out-of-pocket amounts, and safeguarding patient information under EMTALA, HIPAA, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid payors required.
• Basic medical terminology understanding.
• Excellent customer service.
• MS Office familiarity (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred.
• English fluency; Spanish helpful in some markets.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and hospital regulations in Admissions and Medical Records.
• Provide excellent customer service and build relationships with customers.
• Identify and triage patients at hospital arrival to ensure safety.
• Answer phones professionally and route messages to medical staff.
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents.
• Enter and verify demographic information for accounts.
• Verify insurance benefits and plan details for patient accounts.
• Obtain necessary insurance authorizations.
• Pursue collections at time of service in a courteous manner.
• Scan and file registration and clinical documents.
• Coordinate patient transfers between facilities when needed.
• Respond to medical record requests from patients, physicians and hospitals.
• Maintain cash drawer and logs for patients, payments, transfers and admissions.
• Maintain visitor/vendor log.
