Job summary

Emerus Holdings, Inc. is seeking a Patient Access Specialist for the night shift (7P-7A) to act as a liaison among patients, payers and health care teams. You will collect demographic data, verify insurance, and secure out-of-pocket payments to maximize hospital reimbursement.

Required are a high school diploma, 2 years of patient registration/insurance verification experience, and excellent customer service. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred in the El Paso market.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience preferred.
• Fluency in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred in El Paso market.
• Knowledge of HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare and Medicaid plans.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, HIPAA and other regulatory compliance in Admissions.
• Provide exceptional customer service and build relationships with patients and families.
• Identify and triage patients upon arrival to the hospital for safety and accuracy.
• Answer calls professionally, relay messages to staff.
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents; verify demographic data.
• Verify insurance benefits and ensure correct payer and plan entry.
• Obtain required insurance authorizations per plans.
• Assist with collections at the point of service in a courteous manner.
• Scan and file medical records; maintain patient data integrity.
• Coordinate patient transfers when needed; respond to record requests.
• Maintain cash drawer and log patient activity, payments, and admissions.
