Job summary

Emerus Holdings, Inc. is seeking a Patient Access Specialist for the Kelly location on the night shift.

You will serve as a liaison among patients, payers, and hospital teams to gather accurate demographics, verify coverage, and secure out-of-pocket payments to maximize reimbursement. The role requires registering patients, verifying benefits, obtaining authorizations, and supporting revenue cycle processes.

Qualifications

• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid).
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Night shift and on-site hospital environment familiarity

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and all regulations applicable to Admissions and Medical Records.
• Provide excellent customer service by understanding customer needs and building relationships.
• Identify and triage patients on arrival to protect patient safety and ensure proper identification.
• Answer calls professionally and relay messages to appropriate staff.
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents.
• Enter complete demographic information to facilitate revenue cycle processing.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor/plan entries in the system.
• Obtain necessary insurance authorizations as required by plans.
• Pursue collections at time of service to maximize reimbursement.
• Scan and file registration and clinical documents in the system.
• Coordinate transfers between hospitals when needed.
• Respond to medical record requests from patients/physicians/hospitals.
• Maintain cash drawer and log patient activity, payments, transfers, admissions.
• Maintain visitor/vendor logs and front-desk cleanliness and organization.
• Assist medical staff and perform additional duties as assigned
