Emerus, a leader in small-format hospitals, seeks a Patient Access Specialist to serve as a liaison among patients, payers and hospital staff. You will verify demographics, collect payments, and maximize reimbursement while upholding regulatory standards.

The role emphasizes accurate data entry, insurance benefit checks, and clear communication with callers and medical teams. Shift: Nights; full-time, with appropriate differential and support from the Patient Financial Services team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience preferred.
• Familiar with EMTALA, HIPAA and insurance terminology.
• Fluent English; Spanish beneficial in some markets.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and all regulations in Admissions.
• Provide excellent customer service; build quality relationships.
• Verify insurance benefits and obtain required authorizations.
• Enter complete demographics to facilitate revenue cycle processing.
• Maximize collections at time of service with professional, service-oriented approach.
