Qualifikationen

• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting (preferred).
• Emergency Department registration experience (strongly preferred).
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• English fluency; bilingual ability may be required in certain markets.

Aufgaben

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and hospital/government regulations in Admissions and Medical Records.
• Provide excellent customer service and build quality relationships.
• Assist with patient identification and triage upon arrival.
• Handle phone calls, messages, and communication with medical staff.
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents; verify and enter demographic information.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor/plan in the system; obtain authorizations as needed.
• Pursue collections at the time of service in a customer-friendly manner.
• Scan and maintain medical records; assist with patient transfers when needed.
• Maintain cash drawer and logs for patients, payments, transfers and admissions.
