Job summary

South Dakota Department of Corrections is hiring a Nurse Supervisor (NM1) for the night shift, 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., in Sioux Falls. The role reports to the Health Services Administrator and focuses on enforcing nursing policies and clinical standards across settings.

The ideal candidate holds a current SD nursing license, has 3 years of RN experience, and can supervise staff while ensuring safe, compliant care. Offers full state benefits and SDRS retirement.

Qualifications

• Current, valid RN license from SD Board of Nursing or eNLC-participating state.
• Minimum of three (3) years full-time patient care as RN.
• Supervisory experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Review compliance with nursing policies, standards, and documentation.
• Monitor and facilitate progressive patient care through a team approach.
• Provide patient education on self-care, medications, and treatment effects.
• Assist HSA and CCES in maintaining staff clinical skills within licensure scope.
• Manage payroll, scheduling, CPC check-ins, and shift coverage for 8–12 hours daily.
• Coordinate patient care with other departments and vendors.
