Job summary

The Nurse Supervisor (NM1) within the South Dakota Department of Corrections (SD DOC) oversees nursing policies, clinical standards, and staff development to provide quality care in multiple clinical settings. This full‑time role reports to the Health Services Administrator and requires an active RN license and 3 years of patient care experience.

In this role you will supervise staff, coordinate schedules, monitor documentation, and ensure safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Requires current RN license.
• Three years of full‑time nursing experience.
• Supervisory or lead experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with nursing policies and standards.
• Supervise nursing staff and manage clinic operations.
• Coordinate patient care and staff scheduling.
• Maintain unit cleanliness and supply levels.
• Oversee payroll, CPC check‑ins, and overtime approvals.
