Job summary

The South Dakota Department of Corrections is seeking a Nurse Supervisor (NM1) in Pierre, SD to lead nursing services, enforce clinical standards, and support staff development within the Clinical Services unit.

The role requires an active RN license and at least three years of full-time patient-care experience, with supervisory responsibilities. It offers state benefits and SDRS retirement as part of a comprehensive compensation package.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current, valid RN license from SD Board of Nursing or eNLC
• Three (3) years of full-time RN patient-care experience
• Supervisory experience preferred
• Ability to supervise staff and manage clinic operations

Responsibilities

• Review and ensure compliance with SD DOC policies, clinical standards, nursing protocols and documentation
• Monitor and facilitate progressive patient care through a team approach
• Provide patient education on self-care and medications, and address offender concerns
• Assist HSA and CCES in maintaining clinical skills and ensuring licensure scope
• Coordinate clinic operations, staffing, and overtime as needed
• Maintain unit cleanliness and adequate stock of supplies; ensure safety in clinical environment
