Job summary

AbbVie Inc. in South San Francisco seeks a senior leader to guide the Publications Team across assets, ensuring publication plans align with strategic objectives.

You will manage timelines, budgets, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations. You will provide mentorship to staff, oversee external writers and vendors, and ensure publication records are accurate while advancing the therapeutic area’s scientific communications

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; PhD, PharmD, Master’s Degree preferred.
• 4-5 years of medical/scientific publications experience; pharmaceutical industry or medical communications agency experience preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities.
• Knowledge of clinical publication structure, regulations and best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with experience presenting to senior audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional Publications Teams for assigned assets, guiding publication plans with global stakeholders.
• Direct tactical execution of publication plans (manuscripts, abstracts, posters, oral presentations) within timelines and budgets.
• Review publications in assigned therapeutic areas for quality and alignment.
• Partner with Directors to align strategies and manage outsourcing budgets and resources.
• Oversee internal/external writers and vendors to ensure high-quality outputs.
• Provide performance feedback and talent retention for staff.
• Ensure accurate project data in publication records and systems.
