Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the KP 2 Neuro OR-Day Shift (37.5 hours). Under the direction of a licensed nurse, scrub on all surgical procedures in the Operating Room and assist the physician in procedural areas.

Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent, BLS, graduation from an NBSTSA-accredited Surgical Technologist program, and certification upon hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; BLS required; graduate of NBSTSA-accredited Surgical Technologist program; certification required upon hire.
• Certification as Surgical Technologist is required upon hire.
• Preferred: 1–2 years as CST in a large OR; NYU Surgical Tech Program graduate.

Responsibilities

• Scrub on all surgical procedures in the Operating Room under the supervision of the licensed nurse.
• Assist the physician in procedural areas as a secondary circulator.
• Take initiative to update leadership on physician preference cards for timely and accurate patient care.
• Utilize procedure and patient position to determine the plan of care.
• Anticipate and gather supplies/equipment prior to care; escalate needs to the RN Circulator.
• Demonstrate knowledge of instrument use, care, and maintenance.
• Report unexpected events and outcomes to RN staff/leadership in a timely fashion.
• Provide on‑call coverage where applicable.
• In collaboration with the RN, ensure specimens are identified and labeled correctly.
• Participate in quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives.
