Job summary

NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital seeks a qualified Surgical Technologist to join the Orthopedic Surgery team on Days. Under RN direction, scrub on all procedures in the OR and assist physicians in different procedural areas, ensuring a smooth workflow and adherence to aseptic technique.

Requires a high school diploma, BLS, and NBSTSA certification upon hire; preferred candidates have 1–2 years of experience as a CST and/or NYU Surgical Tech Program graduates.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS (American Heart Association) required.
• Graduate of NBSTSA accredited Surgical Technologist program; certification required upon hire.
• Preferred: 1–2 years as a Certified Surgical Technologist in a large OR; NYU Surgical Tech Program graduate.

Responsibilities

• Scrub in on all surgical procedures in the Operating Room under the direction of a licensed professional nurse.
• Assist the physician in procedural areas.
• Anticipate and gather needed supplies and equipment prior to care.
• Maintain knowledge of instrument use, care, and maintenance.
• Assist as secondary circulator under RN supervision.
• Report unexpected events and outcomes to RN staff in a timely fashion.
• Provide on-call coverage where applicable.
