Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Senior Safety Coordinator to actively support project teams in implementing environmental, safety, and health standards at the site level. The role requires a strong foundation in construction safety and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

The position involves nationwide travel to project locations and an on-site work model. Ideal candidates have hands-on safety leadership, certifications, and experience with government projects.

Qualifications

• BA/BS preferred with a minimum of 3 years of experience in construction or industrial health and safety programs.
• Demonstrated practical knowledge and continuing education in construction safety.
• Federal government projects experience preferred, along with EM385-1-1 certification.
• Certificate of completion for OSHA 510 - Construction Standards.
• Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED (within last 2 years).
• Completed OSHA 30-hour training for construction and STS certification.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication; organized and detailed.

Responsibilities

• Champions safety excellence across Layton project teams.
• Enforces OSHA and Layton safety standards and policies on site.
• Assists ESH Manager in accident investigations and data collection.
• Monitors workers' compensation issues and reports information.
• Conducts site-specific safety orientations for teams.
• Participates in pre-construction safety meetings and risk reviews.
• Supports injury management and access to medical care.
• Performs industrial hygiene surveys (gas/noise) and respirator fit tests.
• Ensures compliance with FMLA, ADA, and Workers' Comp laws.
• Provides safety training to site personnel and subcontractors.
• Participates in monthly Safety Committee meetings.
