Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Project Manager to oversee ground-up commercial projects, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and execution. The role requires coordinating with the Superintendent to deliver projects on time and within budget.

You will champion safety, quality, and integrity while managing subcontracts, permits, and client communications. This position involves travel to project sites and close collaboration with estimating and cost accounting teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in ground-up commercial projects, especially light industrial or cold storage.
• Understanding of estimating concepts, bids, and change orders.
• Knowledge of construction laws, practices, and contractual language.
• Familiarity with building codes, plans, blueprints and specs.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively; strong presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Champions The Layton Way by delivering predictable outcomes for teams and customers.
• Ensure integrity, safety, and quality in work delivery.
• Collaborate with the Superintendent to ensure project success and client relationships.
• Assist in preparing estimates and project budgets.
• Lead the project team in developing the PMP and conduct meetings.
• Participate in value engineering, subcontracting, and permits clearance.
• Prepare project schedule and milestones with the project superintendent.
• Manage contract documents, procurement, and budget alignment.
• Monitor site performance on quantity, cost, safety, quality, and schedule.
• Negotiate change orders and manage cost/profit impact.
• Prepare monthly client pay requests and follow up on collections.
• Coordinate with cost accounting for payments and lien releases.
• Oversee close-out, as-built drawings, and final documentation.
• Interface with Estimating to feed cost data into the database.
• Manage client relationships and meetings with the client.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
