Job summary

The Project Manager at Layton Construction leads the planning, procurement, scheduling and execution of ground-up commercial projects. Travel is required to project sites, with on-site responsibility and direct client interaction.

Responsibilities include developing PMP, managing budgets and estimates, coordinating with superintendents, and ensuring safety, quality and on-time delivery. Strong communication and team leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field.
• 5+ years of ground-up commercial project experience in light industrial/cold storage.
• Understanding of estimating concepts to verify bids and process change orders.
• Knowledge of contractual language and construction laws and practices.
• Familiarity with building codes, plans, blueprints, and specifications.
• Team player with ability to delegate to achieve goals.
• Strong verbal and written presentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Champions 'The Layton Way' by delivering predictable outcomes for teams and customers.
• Ensures integrity by emphasising safety, quality, and honesty in work.
• Collaborates with the Superintendent on project delivery and client relations.
• Assists in preparing estimates and project budgets.
• Leads the PMP workshop and pre-award/pre-construction meetings.
• Participates in value engineering, negotiates subcontracts, and handles permits.
• Prepares project schedule and milestones with the project superintendent.
• Manages contract documents and project execution strategies.
• Oversees procurement of materials/equipment within budget and schedule.
• Monitors site performance, quality, safety, and cost with the team.
• Negotiates change orders and manages cost/profit impact.
• Develops monthly client pay requests and tracks collections.
• Coordinates payments with the cost accountant and reviews monthly reports.
• Manages close-out procedures including as-built drawings and substantial completion.
• Provides cost information to Estimating for database updates.
• Maintains client relationships and conducts meetings.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
