Job summary

HDR is seeking a Transmission EPC Principal to lead pursuit efforts and transition projects into execution within HDR's Alternative Delivery framework. The role emphasizes technical bid development, risk analysis, and collaboration with partners across disciplines.

The ideal candidate will have a PE license, PMP, 10+ years in transmission design, and at least 5 years leading EPC project teams. Willingness to travel up to 20% and strong leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil and/or Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Engineering License.
• Project Management Professional (PMP).
• 10+ years of experience in transmission design.
• 5+ years leading engineering teams on EPC projects.
• Proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, PLS-Tower, MFAD, and LPILE.
• Experience developing engineering scope, schedule and budget estimates on EPC projects.
• Experience performing all aspects of transmission line design, procurement and construction up to 500kV.
• Strong leadership and ability to coordinate with multiple remote teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Pursuit Champion / Manager on Transmission EPC projects and transition to execution.
• Facilitate risk analysis, routing design and bill-of-material takeoff support with partners; offer VE solutions.
• Lead HDR scope, schedule and budget development for AD projects.
• Coordinate with land survey, geotechnical, distribution, substation, environmental, real estate and GIS staff.
• Estimate technical investments and share risk assessments with leadership to decide pursuits.
• Interface with contractors and subconsultants during pursuit and project phases; drive risk discussions.
• Assist in Go/No-Go discussions and risk assessments.
• Develop FEED templates and design standards for EPC pursuits and projects.
• Provide EPC best-practice guidance to project delivery teams.
• Mentor and develop project teams; report to Alternative Delivery Director.
