Job summary

Cogent Talent Solutions is seeking an experienced accountant to own the full month-end close for three entities and the parent, ensuring accurate general ledger across locations in Corpus Christi, the Valley, and Victoria. You will manage inventory, floor plan reconciliation, and intercompany activity to deliver audit-ready financials.

The role requires 5+ years of full-cycle accounting, proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Excel, and experience with payroll accounting and multi-entity

• 5+ years of progressive full-cycle accounting with month-end ownership.
• Experience with multiple entities and intercompany reconciliations.
• Inventory-intensive business experience and floor plan knowledge is a plus.
• Advanced QuickBooks Online and Excel skills; payroll accounting knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Own the full monthly close for all entities with a documented close checklist.
• Reconcile every balance sheet account monthly: bank, credit card, merchant clearing, inventory, floor plan, fixed assets, loans, payroll liabilities, sales tax, intercompany, and equity.
• Prepare monthly entity-level and consolidated financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow) with a written variance commentary for the Owner.
• Produce location-level reporting so leadership can compare Corpus Christi, the Valley, and Victoria on revenue, gross margin, labor cost, and overhead.
• Maintain a clean chart of accounts and enforce consistent coding across all entities.
• Own generator inventory accounting at the serial-number level, from receipt through installation.
• Relieve inventory to COGS each month for completed installations using data from RevLink and RazorSync.
• Structure inventory into sub-accounts and reconcile each one.
• Reconcile the floor plan lender statement monthly and track curtailments and interest.
• Coordinate periodic physical counts at each location and record adjustments with documentation.
• Track warranty reimbursements and extended warranty costs so receivables and margins are accurate.
• Review each Gusto payroll before approval and map correctly to entities/locations.
• Allocate labor to COGS and overhead to operating expenses; reclassify with journal entries as needed.
• Record payroll taxes and withholdings; reconcile payroll liability accounts monthly.
• Support commission, flag-time, and incentive pay calculations with accurate data.
• Record intercompany transactions and prepare consolidating schedules and eliminations.
• Document intercompany policies and apply them consistently.
• Maintain rolling 13-week cash flow forecast and monthly cash position report.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and lender reporting packages.
• Prepare and file Texas sales & use tax returns and franchise royalty reporting.
• Serve as primary contact for outside CPA; deliver clean year-end trial balance and fixed asset rollforward.
• Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation schedule; handle 1099s and other filings.
• Bring books to lender-auditable standard.
