Job summary

Atlantic Health System is seeking an MRI Technologist for Newton Medical Center to create cross-sectional images of patients’ bodies using MRI equipment and to ensure high-quality diagnostic imaging.

Responsibilities include positioning patients, operating MRI coils, documenting patient data, and maintaining safety protocols under Radiologist supervision. A Bachelor’s degree in Radiography or related field and active RT license/MR certification are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Radiography Program or related field.
• State RT License / MR Certified / BLS.

Responsibilities

• Positions patient on examining table and places specified coil (receiver) such as head coil or knee coil, close to area of interest, following protocols requested by Radiologist.
• Demonstrates use of microphone that allows patient and technologist to communicate during examination.
• Enters data, such as patient history, anatomical area to be scanned, orientation specified, and position of entry into aperture of magnetic resonance imaging equipment (head or feet first), into computer.
• Keys commands to specify scan sequences and adjust transmitters and receivers into computer.
• Observes patient through window of control room and on closed circuit TV screen to monitor patient safety and comfort.
• Views images of areas being scanned on video display screen to ensure quality of pictures.
• Keys in data on keyboard of camera to photograph images.
• Alerts staff entering magnet room to the danger of wearing or carrying metal around magnet.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
