Job summary

Cart.com is seeking a meticulous Merchant of Record Accountant to own end-to-end MoR accounting across our brands, ensuring accurate payment processing, settlements, and tax compliance in a fast-growing ecommerce environment. You will lead reconciliations, control processes, and monthly close while collaborating with payments providers and internal teams to scale operations with robust financial controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 3–7 years of experience in payments operations, merchant services, or related finance roles.
• Strong understanding of payment processing, settlements, and financial controls.
• Advanced Excel skills and data analysis experience.
• Experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.

Responsibilities

• Own MoR accounting operations across supported brands.
• Review and approve high-value MoR transactions and settlements.
• Monitor payment exceptions and resolve settlement issues.
• Maintain rigorous transaction review to minimize errors and revenue leakage.
• Serve as primary liaison for MoR payments, settlements, tax compliance, and reporting.
• Perform reconciliations between payment platforms, banking activity, and the general ledger.
• Support month-end close with journal entries and reporting.
• Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and playbooks for MoR operations.
